XTEND has completed its first customer deployment of an AtlasROVER ground robot running its XOS operating system, marking the initial field use of the platform since the company acquired Atlas. The deployment is to a customer in the Asia-Pacific region; no country, organisation name, or contract value was disclosed.
The move is the first concrete step in XTEND's stated ambition to build a single, hardware-agnostic software layer that spans air, ground and eventually maritime robotic platforms. XOS is described by the company as an operating system for human-guided autonomy, designed to standardise AI capabilities, mission applications and operator workflows across physically dissimilar robotic systems.
Chief executive and co-founder Aviv Shapira said: "Our goal is not to build isolated robotic products, but to create a common software layer that can extend across air, ground and ultimately maritime systems. Bringing AtlasROVER into the XOS ecosystem moves us closer to a future where different robotic platforms can work together, while humans remain in control of the decisions that matter."
XTEND reports it has deployed more than 12,500 systems across more than 30 countries, with operational use in five combat zones.
