Lectra launches Apogy agentic AI tool for fashion development
Lectra, the Paris-headquartered fashion and industrial technology group, has launched Apogy, a cloud-based product development platform built around agentic AI. The solution targets the workflow-intensive phase between garment design and production, where fragmented data and siloed teams have long slowed time-to-market for apparel brands.
Apogy brings together design, prototyping, collaboration and supplier management in a single shared environment. The system generates concept visuals from text prompts, sketches or uploaded images, supports real-time co-editing with full change traceability, and produces 3D simulations and photorealistic renderings to accelerate sample approvals. Lectra says it took three years to develop, informed by dialogue with several dozen customers.
Named customers and executive view
Two early adopters are cited in the release. Irish sportswear brand O'Neills reports that Apogy is the first single platform adopted across all of its teams, with David Towell, Senior Manager, noting that eliminating manual data transfers has reduced errors and increased transparency. Oniverse, the Italian group behind Calzedonia, Intimissimi and Tezenis, says the platform strengthens its ability to recruit and retain younger product-development talent, according to Operations Director Riccardo Romani.
Maximilien Abadie, Deputy CEO of Lectra, framed the launch as a generational shift: "Agentic artificial intelligence gives us the opportunity to take a new step forward and reinvent product development as a whole." Lectra positions Apogy as the first platform to consolidate all parties, data and processes involved in bringing a garment from concept to production-ready prototype under one system. The company says the solution will continue to expand its AI capabilities on a rolling SaaS release cycle.
Market context and competitive landscape
Agentic AI is rapidly emerging as the architectural pattern of choice for enterprise workflow automation, with vendors across sectors replacing discrete AI features with orchestrated agent systems capable of multi-step reasoning and task execution. In the fashion-technology sector, Lectra competes with a range of PLM and product lifecycle management vendors, including PTC, Centric Software and Gerber Technology (now part of Lectra's own portfolio after the 2021 acquisition), as well as with specialist 3D design players such as CLO Virtual Fashion and Browzwear.
The fashion industry faces structural pressure on development timelines. Shorter collection cycles, volatile consumer demand and rising environmental reporting obligations under European sustainability legislation are squeezing the product-development function. Tools that reduce sample iterations and compress approval cycles have a clear commercial rationale, though the degree to which agentic AI can reliably automate creative and technical garment-development tasks at scale remains to be demonstrated in production at large brands.
Regulatory and sustainability read-across
European fashion brands face growing compliance obligations under the EU's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, which will require digital product passports for textile goods from 2027 onwards. Platforms that centralise product data and maintain traceability throughout the development cycle are well positioned to support that compliance workflow. Lectra's release explicitly references regulatory and environmental pressures as drivers of demand, and the company's broader sustainability commitments are a stated strategic pillar. Whether Apogy's data architecture is designed to feed into digital product passport requirements was not addressed in the release.
Lectra reported revenues of €507 million in 2025, of which €89 million came from SaaS. Apogy is being delivered exclusively as SaaS, which the company says enables continuous capability updates. Investors and customers will be watching for disclosed adoption metrics, named enterprise wins beyond the two launch references, and published benchmarks on development-cycle compression as the platform scales.
