Perle Systems launches PerleCLOUD for remote infrastructure management

Perle Systems has launched a cloud-based platform to centralise management of its IOLAN SCR Console Servers across distributed and remote sites.

Perle Systems has launched PerleCLOUD, a cloud-hosted management platform designed to give IT and operational technology teams centralised control over distributed infrastructure without the need for on-premises management servers. The platform, available immediately on an annual subscription basis, is built around the company's IOLAN SCR Console Server product line and targets organisations running infrastructure across multiple remote or geographically dispersed sites.

The platform supports serial, USB, and Ethernet console management interfaces and extends visibility not just to the console server itself but to the devices connected behind it. Core capabilities include real-time device health monitoring, centralised firmware and configuration management, role-based access control, group-based administration, automated alerting, and secure remote access to connected assets.

The product case

John Feeney, Chief Operating Officer at Perle Systems, framed the launch around operational complexity rather than any single vertical. "PerleCLOUD delivers centralised visibility, secure remote access, and streamlined administration through a cloud-hosted platform that reduces deployment complexity and helps organisations improve operational efficiency while maintaining control of critical infrastructure," he said.

The company singles out cellular-connected deployments as a particular fit, noting that because the management plane is delivered as a cloud service, new sites can come online without a prior management-server deployment. The intended effect is a reduction in mean time to resolution during infrastructure incidents, alongside fewer on-site visits for routine configuration changes.

Perle has identified a broad set of target environments: data centres, branch offices, industrial facilities, telecoms networks, utility substations, and transportation systems. The wide scope reflects the fact that out-of-band console access is a foundational requirement across nearly any category of managed infrastructure, not a niche use case.

Market context

The out-of-band and remote infrastructure management space is reasonably well established. Vendors including Opengear, Lantronix, and Nodegrid (ZPE Systems) offer broadly comparable console-server and cloud-management combinations, and hyperscale cloud providers have introduced their own edge-management tooling for deployments tied to their ecosystems. Perle's differentiation rests on hardware depth, a distribution channel built over five decades, and the argument that cloud-native delivery removes the bootstrap complexity that has traditionally slowed console-management rollouts at new sites.

The broader managed infrastructure category is also being shaped by two converging pressures. First, the growth of edge computing and distributed industrial deployments is increasing the number of remote nodes that IT teams must manage without proportionally increasing headcount. Second, regulatory frameworks such as NIS2 in Europe and equivalent critical-infrastructure protection standards elsewhere are raising the baseline security expectations for operational technology environments, including audit trails, access controls, and incident-response speed. PerleCLOUD's role-based access control and centralised audit capabilities are directly relevant to organisations pursuing or maintaining compliance in those frameworks, though Perle has not cited specific certifications in this release.

What comes next

Perle has not disclosed pricing beyond the annual subscription model, nor has it named a launch customer or published independent performance benchmarks. The company's global distribution network, spanning nine countries, provides a ready channel for the new platform, though the competitive question is whether infrastructure buyers already standardised on a rival console-management stack will have sufficient reason to migrate.

The subscription delivery model aligns with wider industry movement away from perpetual-licence hardware management software, and represents a meaningful shift in Perle's own go-to-market. Buyers evaluating the platform will look for published security certifications, data-residency options for regulated environments, and API integration depth with existing IT service management tooling.
