Compu Dynamics Modular launches scalable AI data centre portfolio
Compu Dynamics Modular (CDM), a Virginia-based infrastructure specialist, has unveiled an expanded portfolio of prefabricated AI data centre modules designed to support deployments from 750 kW edge installations through to multi-tens-of-megawatt AI campuses. The company positions the portfolio as a response to surging GPU rack densities, which are straining conventional data centre construction timelines and thermal management approaches.
The portfolio ranges across four tiers: a 750 kW All-In-One Module for edge inference and space-constrained sites; a 1.5 MW Base Module paired with a dedicated 2 MW critical power unit; a 3 MW solution formed by linking two base modules; and a 5 MW to 6 MW Turnkey AI Factory configured with up to 64 high-density racks, a 4-to-make-3 electrical architecture, and 8 MW of installed UPS capacity. Customers can stack these building blocks incrementally toward 10 MW, 15 MW, 50 MW and larger campus footprints.
The platform
Across the range, CDM uses a standardised engineering architecture supporting hybrid air and direct-to-chip liquid cooling, resilient electrical topologies, dynamic load stabilisation, and vendor-neutral integration with chip, IT, power, and infrastructure OEMs. All modules are designed, fabricated, and factory-tested in the United States before site delivery, which CDM says accelerates commissioning to Level 5 and reduces on-site integration risk.
Steve Altizer, President and CEO of Compu Dynamics and CDM, said: "AI is forcing the industry to rethink not only what data center infrastructure looks like, but how quickly and predictably it can be brought online."
Ron Mann, Vice President of CDM, emphasised the workload-specific engineering approach. "These aren't simply prefabricated data halls," Mann said. "Every solution is engineered around the application workload and the power, cooling, and resiliency requirements that come with it."
The company did not disclose pricing, named customers, or specific throughput benchmarks in its release. Lead times and site preparation requirements were also not stated.
Market context
The modular data centre market has attracted growing interest as hyperscalers and enterprise AI adopters seek to compress build cycles that traditionally stretch to three or more years for ground-up facilities. CDM competes in a field that includes established prefabricated specialists as well as increasingly active offerings from large construction and engineering firms that have moved into turnkey data centre delivery.
The shift toward hundred-kilowatt-per-rack GPU configurations, driven by high-end accelerators from Nvidia and its competitors, is a structural forcing function for the sector. Traditional air-cooled raised-floor designs cannot accommodate these densities without significant retrofitting, which is accelerating demand for purpose-built modular solutions with integrated direct-to-chip liquid cooling.
From a regulatory and procurement standpoint, CDM's emphasis on US-based manufacturing is commercially relevant. Federal and state-level programmes increasingly favour domestically produced infrastructure for AI workloads, and the CHIPS and Science Act-era industrial policy continues to shape procurement decisions for both government and government-adjacent hyperscale customers. CDM did not specify whether its supply chain meets Buy American Act thresholds or any existing FedRAMP-adjacent certification, both of which matter for public-sector deployments.
The company's claim that it brings more than two decades of data centre expertise is not independently verifiable from this release, and no third-party performance certifications or customer references were provided.
