Endra opens US and UK offices after $50m Andreessen Horowitz Series A
Endra, the Stockholm-based AI platform for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering, has opened three offices outside Sweden, establishing a North American headquarters in New York, a West Coast base in San Francisco, and a UK hub in London. The expansion follows a $50 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, raised earlier this year, and brings the company into direct proximity with the large engineering consultancies it is targeting in the US and UK markets.
Co-Founder and President Anton Juric, who is leading the US go-to-market effort, said enterprise trust in this sector is built through in-person relationships. "Having spent the past year in discussions with the largest design firms in the world, one thing has become clear: the shift to AI-native engineering is underway," he said. "The firms that move first will have more capacity, faster timelines, and a new way to scale their expertise." Endra did not name any signed customers, though the company says it is in active engagement with several of the world's largest engineering consultancies.
What the platform does
Endra's core product ingests standard building-information modelling (BIM) files and integrates with tools such as Autodesk Revit to reconstruct a building in a detailed 3D environment. From that model, the platform automates system design, device placement, cable and duct routing, and the production of compliance-ready documentation across both 3D and 2D deliverables. The company claims that a code-compliant electrical design for a 500,000-square-foot commercial building, a task that traditionally takes approximately two months, can be completed in under a day. No independent benchmark or third-party validation was cited for that figure.
The London office is intended to serve European and Middle East customers as well as UK engineering consultancies. Endra is hiring across engineering, sales, and customer success in all three cities, with a stated target of 100 employees globally over the next twelve months. Product engineer Hadla Bergman, who joined from autonomous freight company Einride, is leading the effort to localise the platform to US and UK building codes and design workflows.
The company will stage a launch event called Epoch in Las Vegas on 14 September 2026, at which it plans to unveil an electrical module and set out its broader roadmap for AI-native MEP engineering.
Market context and competitive landscape
The AEC technology market has attracted significant capital over the past several years, as construction productivity gains have consistently lagged other industries and the demand for specialised buildings, particularly data centres, hospitals, and electrified commercial property, has placed growing strain on engineering capacity. AI-assisted design is increasingly viewed as the lever to close a widening talent gap: the pipeline of qualified MEP engineers is not expanding quickly enough to meet infrastructure build-out timelines in Europe or North America.
Endra competes in a space that includes established AEC software vendors such as Autodesk and Bentley Systems, which are adding AI-assisted design features to existing workflows, as well as a growing cohort of vertical AI startups targeting specific engineering disciplines. The company's positioning as a purpose-built, enterprise-grade platform rather than a drafting aid or add-in is a deliberate differentiation. Whether that positioning holds as hyperscale software vendors extend their own AI capabilities will be a central question for prospective customers evaluating the platform.
From a regulatory standpoint, localisation to UK and US building codes is not trivial. In the UK, the Building Safety Act 2022 introduced tighter competency and documentation requirements for higher-risk buildings, which could work in Endra's favour if its compliance-documentation workflow can be demonstrated to meet the new regime. In the US, code compliance varies by jurisdiction, and any automated output will need to satisfy the sign-off requirements of licensed professional engineers in each state where it is used.
