ParaZero and Axon Vision integrate net-based drone interception

The two Israeli defence firms have combined DefendAir's net-capture pods with ForceField's Edge AI platform for use at airports and critical infrastructure.

ParaZero Technologies and Axon Vision have unveiled a jointly integrated Counter-UAS configuration that pairs ParaZero's DefendAir Net Pod with Axon Vision's ForceField Edge AI platform. The companies say the combination is aimed at airports, energy facilities, and other fixed sensitive sites where kinetic, explosive-based interception is operationally unsuitable.

The two companies recently demonstrated the integrated system during a trial campaign in Israel, validating interoperability under what they describe as operationally representative conditions. They have also signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to frame continued development and potential commercialisation, though both parties stress that definitive agreements remain subject to further documentation.

How the integration works

ForceField provides the detection and decision layer: passive electro-optical sensors feed an AI-driven threat analysis engine that operates an "Detect, Understand, Respond" cycle. The system keeps a human in the loop while compressing engagement timelines. DefendAir adds the physical response element, deploying a net pod to capture and bring down a target drone without explosive fragmentation or rounds travelling downrange.

Ariel Alon, chief executive of ParaZero, said the collaboration advances the company's goal of positioning DefendAir as a standard interception module within third-party Counter-UAS architectures. "Detection, decision-making and interception capabilities need to operate as one integrated architecture," he said, adding that the ForceField pairing widens commercial pathways for system integrators working in critical and sensitive environments.

Neri Zin, chief executive of Axon Vision, framed the announcement as evidence of the ForceField platform's modularity. "Different operational environments require different engagement capabilities," he said, noting that the Edge AI core and operational workflow remain consistent regardless of which interception effector is attached.

Market context

The Counter-UAS sector has grown sharply since the proliferation of commercially available drones began creating persistent threat vectors for both military and civil operators. Airports in particular face strict constraints: kinetic or jamming-based solutions risk interference with navigation systems or risk debris on runways, making non-explosive net capture one of the few operationally acceptable options in civil airspace.

A number of well-funded competitors are pursuing similar detect-and-defeat stacks, including DroneShield (ASX: DRO), which combines radar and EO detection with a range of defeat options, and D-Fend Solutions, which focuses on radio-frequency cyber takeover. The net-capture niche is less crowded but has attracted attention from US and European military procurement programmes that require low-collateral-damage solutions in urban or populated environments.

Both ParaZero (Nasdaq: PRZO) and Axon Vision (TASE: AXN) are publicly listed and will face investor scrutiny on the pace of progression from MOU to binding commercial agreements. The release does not disclose potential contract values, unit economics, or which specific customers trialled the integrated configuration in Israel.

Regulatory and standards read-across

Counter-UAS deployments at civil airports and energy infrastructure sit at the intersection of civil aviation authority rules, national security legislation, and export-control regimes. In the UK, the Civil Aviation Authority requires specific authorisations for any defeat mechanism that interferes with an aircraft's flight path. US operations would require coordination with the FAA and, depending on the customer, could implicate ITAR or EAR export controls given the involvement of Israeli defence firms.

The EU's NIS2 Directive, which broadens the perimeter of critical-infrastructure operators subject to cybersecurity and physical-security obligations, is prompting fresh procurement reviews across energy, transport, and water sectors. That regulatory pressure could accelerate purchasing timelines for integrated Counter-UAS stacks of the type the two companies are now offering.
