Crunchafi acquires BUCS Analytics to add 150+ integrations for CPA firms
Crunchafi, a cloud-based SaaS provider serving more than 750 CPA firms, has acquired BUCS Analytics, a data-integration specialist focused on connecting accounting, ERP, payroll and CRM systems. The deal, announced on 16 September 2026, adds more than 150 pre-built integrations to Crunchafi's existing workflow and automation toolset, along with native Model Context Protocol (MCP) support and expanded client advisory services (CAS) functionality.
The acquisition is framed by Crunchafi as a direct response to what chief executive Mark Weidick describes as the most persistent bottleneck in CPA engagements. "Every engagement across the firm starts the same way: waiting on client data," Weidick said. "BUCS spent years building dependable integrations to the systems firms rarely get clean access to. Our aim is to connect to a client once and put that information to work across the firm, cutting manual preparation and supporting reporting and advisory work from a unified foundation."
What the deal adds
BUCS Analytics was built to standardise ingestion and reporting across siloed operational sources. Its customers report saving ten to fifteen hours per month by automating recurring reporting tasks, according to the release. That time saving accrues primarily in month-end close workflows, where CAS teams typically pull data manually from multiple disconnected systems.
The combined platform now covers more than 150 cloud-based and on-premises systems. On first-time client setup, firms can pull current data on demand, often within hours rather than days. The addition of native MCP access means firm data becomes available to AI tooling that staff already use, without requiring custom connectors or bespoke API work.
Krystal Montague, chief operating officer of BUCS Analytics, said the two businesses share a focus on helping firms scale CAS practices without adding operational complexity. UHY, a top-30 US CPA firm, is cited as a named customer that has used BUCS Analytics as part of its CAS and CFO advisory build-out.
Market context
CAS is the fastest-growing service line in public accounting, a finding supported by the AICPA and CPA.com CAS Benchmark Survey cited in the release. Demand is being driven by smaller and mid-market businesses seeking outsourced CFO and financial-planning functions rather than traditional compliance-only audit relationships. That shift is pushing CPA firms to invest in technology that lets them serve more advisory clients without proportionally scaling headcount.
Crunchafi's existing platform focuses on lease accounting and data extraction automation, areas where regulatory change (notably IFRS 16 and ASC 842 adoption) created demand for specialist tooling. Extending into CAS represents a meaningful scope expansion. The company is backed by private equity firm Aquiline, which typically supports growth-by-acquisition strategies in financial-technology verticals. Deal terms, including any purchase price, were not disclosed.
The integration tooling market for mid-market accounting software is increasingly contested. Competitors range from iPaaS generalists such as Workato and Boomi to accounting-specific players that have built similar connector libraries. The durability of Crunchafi's competitive advantage will depend on how quickly it can deepen the BUCS integration catalogue, lock in CAS workflow features that are harder to replicate, and retain BUCS's existing customer base through the transition period.
BUCS Analytics customers have been assured of continued support during the integration process. Full details of the acquisition are available at Crunchafi's website.
