OPPO Find X10 Pro Max to launch with MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro
OPPO has confirmed that its forthcoming Find X10 Pro Max will ship with MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 Pro, placing the handset among the first devices to carry the chipmaker's 2nm flagship silicon. The announcement was made ahead of a global launch event, with regional availability in Saudi Arabia to follow, though no dates have been specified.
The Dimensity 9600 Pro is built on TSMC's N2P process node. MediaTek claims the platform delivers a 61% improvement in CPU multi-core energy efficiency compared with the previous-generation process, a 17% overall CPU performance uplift, and approximately 27% higher sustained GPU throughput under heavy workloads. Those figures are vendor-supplied and have not been independently verified at the time of writing.
Silicon specifications
CPU configuration follows MediaTek's All-Big-Core design, with two cores running at 4.55GHz alongside six additional performance cores, each capable of independent frequency control. The GPU is the G2-Ultra NX, which MediaTek says introduces enhanced ray-tracing support and neural graphics capabilities. For on-device AI workloads, the chip features a dual-NPU arrangement: a high-performance NPU reported to deliver 51% faster LLM prefill throughput, paired with a Super Efficient NPU rated at 40% lower power draw for persistent, low-power AI tasks.
A notable addition is the OPPO Laminar Flow Engine, a rendering and scheduling layer co-developed by OPPO and MediaTek making its debut on this device. The company says the technology restructures the underlying rendering pipeline to improve system responsiveness and reduce power draw during photo browsing, app launches and similar content-intensive scenarios.
Market and competitive context
The 2nm smartphone SoC race is now fully under way. Apple moved its A18 Pro to TSMC's 3nm N3E process in 2024 and is widely expected to continue its node-shrink cadence with the A19 generation. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite, which powers competing Android flagships from Samsung and others, is also built on TSMC's 3nm class, making the Dimensity 9600 Pro's N2P debut a meaningful step for MediaTek in the premium tier.
MediaTek has steadily eroded Qualcomm's share among Android OEMs over the past three years, particularly in the mid-range and upper-mid-range segments. The Find X10 Pro Max partnership signals an attempt to cement the Dimensity line's credentials at the very top of the market, where OPPO's Find series competes directly with Samsung's Galaxy S and Xiaomi's 15 Ultra range.
Energy efficiency is increasingly a differentiating factor in flagship smartphones as on-device AI inference workloads grow. Running large-language-model tasks locally demands sustained NPU throughput without the thermal or battery penalties that would compromise the broader user experience. The dual-NPU architecture MediaTek has deployed here reflects that pressure, separating heavy prefill tasks from always-on ambient AI functions.
What comes next
Further hardware details, including camera specifications, battery capacity and pricing, have been held back for the global launch event. OPPO has not named a launch date for Saudi Arabia beyond confirming that local availability will be announced separately. Reviewers and enterprise mobility buyers will want to see independent benchmarks, particularly for sustained AI inference performance and thermal management under prolonged workloads, before drawing firm conclusions from the vendor-supplied figures provided at this stage.
