GunBroker parent names Greg Arnold VP of Software Development
Outdoor Holding Company, the Nasdaq-listed parent of GunBroker.com, has appointed Greg Arnold as Vice President of Software Development. Arnold will lead the software engineering organisation at GunBroker, carrying responsibility for platform modernisation, product development, and the scalability, security and reliability of the marketplace. He reports directly to Chairman and Chief Executive Steve Urvan.
The hire is framed by the company as directly tied to the execution priorities it outlined alongside its first-quarter fiscal 2027 results: growing marketplace activity and market share, expanding transaction monetisation through value-added services, and deploying AI where it can produce measurable improvements in listing quality, customer-service efficiency and conversion. Arnold will also own the governance framework for AI adoption across the software development lifecycle, covering standards for security, intellectual property protection and code quality.
Arnold's background
Arnold brings more than 26 years of technology leadership, most recently at Lumen Technologies, where he ran a 140-person distributed organisation covering software engineering, site reliability and production operations for Lumen's Network as a Service platform. During his tenure at Lumen, he modernised enterprise ordering and provisioning systems and launched an external API marketplace that processed more than two billion API calls per month. He also built Lumen's data science organisation from the ground up. Since leaving Lumen, he has worked hands-on building and operating production software using AI agents, developing evaluation, governance and human-review practices for their deployment. He holds a degree in Information Technology from Purdue University Global and is a former nuclear electronics technician in the US Navy.
Steve Urvan said Arnold "has led large engineering organisations through complex platform transformations while staying close to the technology itself," adding that his experience with high-availability transactional platforms and "the practical, governed use of AI maps directly to where we are taking GunBroker."
Market context
GunBroker.com has operated as a peer-to-peer marketplace since 1999 and positions itself as the largest online marketplace for firearms and shooting-related products in the United States. Online marketplaces in regulated consumer categories face persistent engineering challenges around compliance tooling, fraud prevention and listing-quality management, all areas where AI-assisted moderation and classification have seen growing investment across the sector.
The broader push to layer AI tooling into software development workflows is well established across the enterprise-software market, with platform vendors and in-house engineering teams alike adopting AI-assisted code review, automated testing and observability tooling. Arnold's stated mandate to apply AI "across the development lifecycle under clear standards" follows a template that a number of large-scale marketplace operators have adopted, balancing speed gains against the liability and quality risks that come with less governed AI use.
Outdoor Holding Company trades on Nasdaq under the tickers POWW and POWWP. The company noted in its forward-looking statement boilerplate that actual outcomes from its technology and AI initiatives may differ from current expectations, with full risk factors available in its Form 10-K for the year ended March 2026.
