Precisely launches cloud-native SAP automation governance tool
Precisely has released Automate Evolve Cloud Essentials, a cloud-native SaaS product designed to give IT and SAP Centre of Excellence teams centralised governance over their automation programmes. The Burlington, Massachusetts-based data integrity vendor says the offering removes the need for on-premises infrastructure while retaining enterprise-grade controls such as script approval workflows, audit trails, and server-side job scheduling.
The release comes as SAP estates grow more complex during the industry-wide migration from ECC to S/4HANA. According to joint research conducted by ASUG and Precisely, 62% of organisations identify business process complexity as their primary automation challenge. Automate Evolve Cloud Essentials is positioned by the company as a direct response to that finding, providing governance capabilities that the company argues are absent from generic robotic process automation platforms.
What the product delivers
Ashwin Ramachandran, senior vice president of product management at Precisely, said: "Automate Evolve Cloud Essentials gives SAP teams the control and visibility to scale automation confidently without adding operational burden." The product supports SAP GUI, Fiori, and HTML interfaces, which the company says protects existing automation assets as customers move to S/4HANA rather than requiring rewrites.
Key capabilities include centralised licence management, script approval workflows before deployment, server-side scheduling for critical SAP processes, comprehensive audit trails, fully managed infrastructure, and automatic software updates. Precisely is targeting both existing Automate Studio customers running large user bases or script libraries, and net-new customers looking for a SaaS entry point into SAP automation.
The company did not disclose pricing tiers, customer adoption numbers for the new product, or specific throughput or performance benchmarks in its release.

The SAP automation market sits at an intersection of three active categories: SAP-native process automation, horizontal RPA, and broader intelligent process automation suites. Major RPA vendors including UiPath, Automation Anywhere, and SAP's own Build Process Automation product compete in this space, while niche SAP-specialist vendors have historically differentiated on depth of SAP API and interface support.
Precisely's claim that generic RPA platforms lack SAP-specific depth is a familiar positioning argument in the sector, but it carries some weight during ECC-to-S/4HANA migrations, where interface changes can break automation scripts built on screen-scraping approaches. A product that abstracts scheduling and governance into a managed cloud layer while maintaining interface compatibility across SAP GUI and Fiori is a credible response to that migration risk.

The near-term milestones to watch are named customer wins on the new cloud SKU, published pricing, and any certification progress against frameworks such as SOC 2 Type II, which enterprise buyers typically require before placing operational SAP workloads in a managed cloud service.
