Tines launches 3B platform to govern AI workflows and agents

Tines has launched Tines 3B, an AI-native platform designed to help enterprises build, deploy and govern workflows, applications and agents from a single environment. The Dublin and Boston co-headquartered company says the product was prompted by what it calls the "Wild Code" problem: an accelerating proliferation of AI-generated software built outside traditional IT processes, with limited visibility or accountability.

The launch follows a period of rapid commercial growth. Tines reported that it tripled its enterprise customer base year over year, with named customers including Coinbase, SAP, Experian, Reddit, Notion and Mars. The company recorded a 124% net revenue retention rate, 302% growth in adoption of its AI capabilities, and a 59% weekly-to-monthly active user ratio. Tines was most recently valued at $1.125 billion during a Series C raise in 2025, and has raised $272 million in total from investors including Goldman Sachs, SoftBank and Accel.

What 3B does

The platform is built around three capabilities: natural-language-driven workflow construction, secure execution, and centralised monitoring. Users describe what they want to automate in plain language, and 3B builds the workflow using systems and data the organisation has already authorised. Each workflow step executes inside an isolated environment and leaves no persistent state, which Tines says makes cross-contamination between runs architecturally impossible. A self-healing capability is designed to handle edge cases and inconsistencies without manual intervention.

Emanuele Sparvoli, Senior Director of IT at Fin (formerly Intercom), said that governance considerations were central to the decision to deploy 3B. "Security risks, rising costs and shadow AI" were key concerns, he said, and the platform's credential protection and access controls addressed them. Fin began its rollout a few weeks before the announcement.

Tines co-founder and chief executive Eoin Hinchy framed the platform as a structural response rather than an incremental one. "Simply bolting AI onto our existing product wasn't the answer," he said. "We built Tines 3B because we believe enterprises need an environment designed specifically to build, run and govern AI-generated workflows, applications and agents."

Market context

The governance gap Tines is targeting is widely documented. IBM research cited in the release found that 77% of CxOs say AI adoption is already outpacing their organisations' governance capabilities. That tension is drawing a crowded field of vendors. Hyperscalers offer orchestration layers within their own clouds (Azure Logic Apps, AWS Step Functions, Google Workflows), while specialist automation platforms including ServiceNow, Workato and Zapier are adding AI-agent capabilities. A newer cohort of agentic-AI platforms, several of which have attracted significant venture funding in 2025 and 2026, are pitching similar governance-first positioning.

Tines' differentiator, at least as articulated in the release, is its origin in security operations. The platform was built initially for security and IT practitioners working in environments where failures have real consequences, and that heritage informs the isolated-execution model at the heart of 3B. Whether that security-first lineage translates into a durable competitive advantage as general-purpose workflow vendors add comparable controls is an open question buyers will assess.

Regulatory read-across

The EU AI Act's obligations for general-purpose AI systems are phasing in through 2026 and 2027, and workflow automation platforms that orchestrate AI agents on behalf of enterprises may face classification questions under those provisions. Separately, NIS2 and DORA impose operational resilience and logging requirements on entities in scope across the EU, both of which align with the audit-trail and isolated-execution architecture Tines is highlighting. Enterprises evaluating 3B in regulated sectors will want to validate SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certification status for the new environment, details Tines did not address in this release.
