YouLend and comrce bring embedded finance to German SMEs

The partnership gives around 24,000 German e-commerce merchants access to revenue-based working capital through the comrce Hub platform.

YouLend, the London-based embedded-finance platform, has formed a strategic partnership with German e-commerce software provider comrce to offer working capital to the roughly 24,000 small and medium-sized merchants that use the comrce Hub. The arrangement has been live since May 2026, with comrce using its existing communication channels to direct merchants towards YouLend's financing products.

The comrce Hub bundles several software brands, including Billbee for multichannel order processing, Replyco for customer helpdesk services, Amainvoice for Amazon accounting and VAT compliance, and VentoryOne for inventory management. By surfacing financing options within that operational environment, the two companies are positioning capital access as a natural extension of day-to-day business decisions rather than a separate banking workflow.

How the financing works

YouLend's model uses AI-driven underwriting to assess eligibility and offers repayments tied to a merchant's revenue rather than a fixed schedule. Merchants repay an agreed proportion of sales as they occur, which the company says provides greater flexibility for seasonal retailers and fast-growing businesses with uneven cash flow. The application process is fully digital; interested merchants contact YouLend directly after being signposted through comrce's channels.

Amirah Hadry, Head of Partner Management at comrce, said the partnership extends the platform's offering with "a service that can support merchants as they take their next steps towards growth." Leonard Strigel, General Manager Europe at YouLend, added that the deal demonstrates "how embedded financing is incredibly vital to the day-to-day success of small businesses."

Neither company disclosed take-up figures since the May 2026 soft launch, nor did the release specify ticket sizes or the revenue-share percentage applied to repayments.

Market context

Embedded finance, the practice of weaving lending and payments products into non-financial software platforms, has become a crowded category. YouLend already counts Amazon, eBay Germany, Lieferando and Qonto among its platform partners, giving it meaningful distribution across German e-commerce before the comrce deal. Competitors in the revenue-based financing space, including Capchase, Clearco and a number of European challengers, are pursuing similar merchant-facing models, and several larger fintechs have expanded into the SME working-capital segment from adjacent lending products.

The German SME e-commerce market is a strategically important one: Germany is Europe's second-largest e-commerce market by gross merchandise value, and its SME sector has historically been underserved by traditional bank lending on speed and simplicity of access. Regulatory conditions are relevant here too. The EU's new rules around buy-now-pay-later and broader consumer credit reforms under the revised Consumer Credit Directive may affect how revenue-based products are classified and disclosed in German and EU markets over the coming years, adding compliance complexity that could reshape product design for players without deep regulatory teams.

YouLend states it has issued more than 400,000 financings across more than ten countries to date, though the release does not provide a cumulative capital deployed figure. For investors and observers, the near-term signals to watch are merchant adoption rates through the comrce Hub and whether the partnership is extended to include deeper in-platform integration beyond referral communications.
