Classiq and Scientek partner to push quantum software into Taiwan
Classiq, the Israeli quantum computing software vendor, has signed a go-to-market agreement with Taipei-based distributor Scientek Corporation to expand access to its quantum software platform across Taiwan. The partnership, announced ahead of SEMICON Taiwan 2026, targets semiconductor companies, universities, research institutes and government organisations within Scientek's established client network.
Under the agreement, Scientek will introduce Classiq's platform to prospective customers and facilitate enablement and training programmes. The two companies also plan to explore joint research and development initiatives focused on quantum computing applications relevant to Taiwan's industrial base. Initial activity is expected to concentrate on materials simulation, chemical modelling, process optimisation and other workloads common to the semiconductor value chain.
The platform
Classiq's software allows users to describe quantum algorithms at a high functional level. The platform then automatically generates optimised quantum circuits tuned to whichever hardware or execution environment has been selected. This hardware-agnostic design means organisations can develop and test applications across superconducting systems, trapped-ion hardware, simulators and cloud services without locking algorithms to a single architecture. The platform also supports hybrid quantum-classical workflows, a pragmatic capability given that fault-tolerant quantum hardware remains years away from broad commercial deployment.
Simon Lin, chief executive of Scientek, said customers in Taiwan's semiconductor and research communities need more than access to hardware. "They need software, training and development workflows that allow their teams to begin building applications," he said. "Classiq adds that capability while preserving flexibility across different hardware systems."
Classiq co-founder and chief executive Nir Minerbi described Taiwan as a market where semiconductor leadership, AI, high-performance computing and quantum research are converging, and said Scientek's longstanding relationships across those communities made it a strong local partner.
Market context
Taiwan's centrality to global chip manufacturing, anchored by TSMC and a dense ecosystem of fabless designers, equipment makers and materials suppliers, gives quantum computing software vendors a concentrated target market. Simulation workloads in materials science and process chemistry are widely cited by the quantum industry as among the earliest commercially meaningful applications, precisely because classical supercomputers already struggle at the molecular scale relevant to semiconductor manufacturing.
Classiq competes in the quantum software layer with a range of players, including IBM's Qiskit open-source ecosystem, Quantinuum's TKET compiler, and a growing number of algorithm-focused startups. Its hardware-agnostic positioning is a deliberate differentiator in a market still fragmented across superconducting, photonic, trapped-ion and neutral-atom architectures. Scientek's existing hardware partnerships, which include Bluefors dilution refrigerators, Qblox control stacks and IQM superconducting systems, give Classiq a meaningful on-the-ground advantage: customers can evaluate the full stack through a single local relationship.
Regulatory and standards read-across
Taiwan's government has made quantum technology a strategic priority within its broader science and technology policy, and state-backed research institutes such as Academia Sinica and the National Center for High-performance Computing are active in the field. Export-control considerations are worth monitoring: quantum computing hardware and certain classes of software are subject to US Bureau of Industry and Security licensing requirements, and the cross-border technology flows implied by a partnership of this kind will require both parties to maintain compliance as US controls on advanced computing technologies continue to tighten.
The partnership will be formally introduced at SEMICON Taiwan 2026, where Classiq will demonstrate its platform at the joint Scientek and Zen Voce booth. The companies did not disclose commercial terms, revenue targets or the number of customers expected to be engaged in an initial pipeline.
